Biking Programme – 2020
Sustrans is the charity that makes it easier for people to get around by cycling and walking, both for everyday adventures and to explore more challenging routes. We fully support Wave Adventure as they establish a cycle hub in Bolton. Our ‘Bike Life’ research shows that people in Bolton and Greater Manchester would like to cycle more if they had the skills, support and routes to help them get around safely. Wave Adventure’s track record in supporting children, young people, families and those with additional needs is exceptional. Their enthusiasm and expertise will help hundreds more people experience the physical, mental and social benefits of travelling by bike.

How did WAVE begin?
WAVE Adventure was founded and formally constituted in 1999, in partnership with Bolton Youth Service. It was originally aimed at offering young people from deprived backgrounds in Bolton opportunities to participate in outdoor activities, such as canoeing and climbing.
Our aims grew to include work with families and adults over the years. Since 1999 it has introduced thousands of people to exciting, healthy outdoor activities.
Here at Wave Adventure, we have developed excellent partnership links with a range of organisations – and we continually look to establish relationships with relevant groups who can help people to access our services and facilities. If you feel you have services or facilities to offer, please contact us.

Wave is for Everyone!
As a charity we aim to support individuals and groups experiencing disadvantage to take part. We are keen to enable children young people and adults of all backgrounds to be more confident and healthy.
We have found the activities offered by WAVE Adventure can have an enormous impact on self confidence, personal and social skills through helping participants to develop skills and the experience of being part of a team.
Participants on our programme have reported back positively on their adventures with WAVE Adventure.
